The Institute for Workforce Innovation (IWI) was recently awarded a grant totaling $6,000.00 from the Plum Creek Foundation to purchase new computers and technology equipment for the Melrose Senior Community Center.
“The addition of new computers, tablets, and audio visual equipment will provide improved resources to the customers we serve at the center”, stated Jonathan Leslie, IWI Executive Director, “Whether using our computer lab to search for employment, participate in continuing education, or simply keeping in touch with friends and family, the new equipment will provide a better experience for our patrons. We truly appreciate the generosity and support of the Plum Creek Foundation.”
IWI’s Center provides monthly computer training classes to seniors living in the lake area and will be increasing class offerings this Fall. Classes cover topics such as the Microsoft Office Suite, Social Media, e-mail usage, and fraud prevention courses. IWI is committed to enhancing the lives of seniors living in the lake area by promoting supports, services, and resources that facilitate active living and aging in place.
