The Institute for Workforce Innovation (IWI) has served over 5,000 hot, nutritious meals to seniors in the greater Melrose area through the Lunch Bunch Meal Program at the Melrose Senior Community Center. Individuals who are unable to access the Center receive homebound meals delivered by Center volunteers. The Lunch Bunch Program was recently awarded a $15,000 grant from the United Way of North Central Florida. The award is an annual amount that will help fund the program for up to three years. IWI is excited for this opportunity to expand this program in an effort to abate hunger and decrease isolation in the aging community.
“We truly appreciate the United Way of North Central Florida funding our Lunch Bunch Program. The Lunch Bunch Program helps meet the nutrition and social needs of many seniors living in the lake area. ” said Jonathan Leslie, IWI Executive Director/CEO.
IWI is committed to enhancing the lives of seniors living in the lake area by promoting supports, services, and resources that facilitate active living and aging in place.
